Concrete Support for Grandview Kids
September 17, 2012
Children with special needs and disabilities were given a solid foundation for success when Dufferin Concrete, a division of Holcim (Canada) Inc., unveiled one of its ready-mix concrete trucks with the logos of a number of Durham based companies adorning the drum of the vehicle, raising $35,000 in support of Grandview Kids.
As part of the Ready-Mix Drum Sponsorship Program, one hundred percent of the $35,000 raised with the help of these 7 local businesses has gone towards Grandview Children’s Foundation’s “Include Me” campaign, aimed at giving children with special needs and disabilities the opportunity to achieve their personal best, by reducing the number of children waiting to access critical therapy services at Grandview Children’s Centre.
Entering its fifth year, the Ready-Mix Drum Sponsorship Program has been a phenomenal success. The program works on a simple concept, to raise funds by highlighting the dedication and commitment of various businesses in the community that donate generously as program sponsors. This is done by showcasing their company logo on the drums of Dufferin Concrete's ready-mix concrete trucks for a year.
“We are grateful to have partners in the community like Holcim Canada who are willing to become involved so that our children do not fall further behind. Community support plays an integral role in helping these children to walk and talk,” says Vicky Earle, Executive Director – Grandview Children’s Foundation. “The children on the wait lists are our friends’ children, our neighbours’ children. These are our children and they need help,” adds Earle.
