Ajax student uses webcam to join peers in classroom

Like any other Grade 1 student, Tristen Moses gets excited about going to school.
But instead of a traditional classroom, Tristen logs on via webcam from his living room where he can see his classmates at Bolton C. Falby Public School and his classmates can see him.

I've been reading a lot of stories lately, and there are definitely some sad stories out there, but thankfully there are those which also bring a smile to my face, keeping those negative thoughts at bay.

For Andrew, whose family was told he may never walk, talk or feed himself when he was born 14 weeks too soon, Grandview Children’s Centre has helped him to walk using a walker, eat without a feeding tube and chatter galore.
And Daniella’s family knows that without Grandview, their little swimmer wouldn’t be where she is today. Daniella was diagnosed with a form of Cerebral Palsy at 18 months old and had difficulty walking. But last year Grandview recommended a surgery to Daniella’s family. Today, after the surgery, she can walk using a walker and even stand on her own.

CAW Local 222 members are aiding the Grandview Children's Foundation and its newly launched Help Our Kids campaign. The union recently presented a $5,000 donation to the foundation. Grandview has about 1,000 children and youth on a waiting list for therapy services.

DURHAM REGION NOVEMBER 29, 2010 – Grandview Children’s Foundation hosted their 9th Annual Curling for Grandview Kids Charity FUNspiel on Saturday November 27 at the Oshawa Curling Club. 16 teams participated in the Hawaiian themed event that raised $13,500.00 in support of the Foundation’s newly launched ‘Help Our Kids’ Campaign.
"It was great to see curlers having such a fun time while raising funds for the Help Our Kids campaign," said Vicky Earle, Executive Director. "We are very grateful for the curlers' enthusiastic support and we're thrilled with the funds raised! These funds will help Grandview to change children's lives. Grandview Chidlren's Centre provides critical therapy services to over 4,300 Durham Region children with special needs and disabilities each year. We've just launched the Help Our Kids campaign, because we have too many children waiting and they're waiting far too long. The funds raised will make a difference!"
